چکیده

AIM An image fusion of 3-dimensional (D) digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and magnetic resonance (MR) images, DSA-MR fusion, can simultaneously visualize both information of the vasculature provided by 3D DSA and of the soft tissues provided by MR images. The authors assessed the usefulness of DSA-MR fusion images concerning the pretreatment evaluation for cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM). MATERIAL AND METHODS Seven consecutive patients underwent pretreatment DSA-MR fusion and then microsurgical, endovascular and/ or radiosurgical treatments. RESULTS DSA-MR fusion images clearly showed the spatial relationship among AVM, its feeding artery, draining vein, surrounding artery feeding the normal brain tissue, hematoma and brain tissues (gyri or brain surface) with reasonable post-processing time. CONCLUSION These findings were useful for treatment planning for AVM, especially to enable neurosurgeons to easily understand the surgical anatomy preoperatively.

Three-dimensional dynamic MR digital subtraction angiography using sensitivity encoding for the evaluation of intracranial arteriovenous malformations: a preliminary study.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Our aim was to develop 3D dynamic MR digital subtraction angiography with high temporal resolution without sacrificing spatial resolution by using sensitivity encoding for the evaluation of cerebral arteriovenous malformations. METHODS Nineteen patients with 19 angiographically proven arteriovenous malformations (16 supratentorial and 3 infratentorial) were assessed by ...

Magnetic Resonance Angiography in the Diagnosis of Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation and Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas: Comparison of Time-Resolved Magnetic Resonance Angiography and Three Dimensional Time-of-Flight Magnetic Resonance Angiography

BACKGROUND Traditional digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is currently the gold standard diagnostic method for the diagnosis and evaluation of cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVF). OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to analyze different less invasive magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) images, time-resolved MRA (TR-MRA) and three-dimensional ...

Non-Invasive Follow-up Evaluation of Post-Embolized AVM with Time-Resolved MRA: A Case Report

We report the hemodynamic assessment in a patient with cerebral arteriovenous malformation using time-resolved magnetic resonance angiography (TRMRA), a non-invasive modality, and catheter-based digital subtraction angiography (DSA), before and after embolization. Comparison of the results showed that TR-MRA produced very fast dynamic images and the findings closely matched those obtained at DS...

Cone-beam CT angiography (Dyna CT) for intraoperative localization of cerebral arteriovenous malformations.

BACKGROUND Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) of the brain are commonly treated in multimodality fashion, with endovascular embolization followed by surgical extirpation being one of the most effective strategies. Modern endovascular suites enable rotational angiography, also known as cone-beam CT angiography (CBCT-A), using the full capability of modern C-arm digital angiography systems. This ...

Restoring three-dimensional magnetic resonance angiography images with mean curvature motion.

OBJECTIVE The management of neurovascular disease requires precise information on the cerebral vascular anatomy. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is the gold standard against which other imaging modalities have to be measured. To improve the quality of three-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) images, we present a novel concept in 3D image analysis. METHODS Five patient...
